Grief

GRIEF

Suddenly, without warning
Death dealt me a nasty blow!
It left me staggering and reeling
As my life spun out of control.

Denial moved in quickly
And shock was close behind;
They carried me most graciously
And kept me from losing my mind.

But grief kept knocking at my door
Refusing to go away!
Despondency and utter despair
Kept attacking both night and day.

Finally, the door began to crack
And anger weakened it more.
Doubting soon got the upper-hand
As the enemy moved in for the score.

"Why did this have to happen?
This is more than you can take!
What kind of God would allow this?
He certainly made a mistake!"

I waded through self-pity,
I wallowed in despair.
In the depths of grief and confusion
I wondered if God even cared.

I felt alone and defeated
And didn't know where to turn.
What possible good could come out of this?
What lesson was I to learn?

My heart was bleeding and broken
As I cried out in agony.
Suffering was my companion
As the darkness encompassed me.

Reality struck mercilessly
Over and over again.
The threat of defeat overwhelmed me
In this game I knew I couldn't win.

Life didn't seem worth living
As the future looked so bleak.
I thought of maybe ending it all;
My body was weary and weak.

But then I heard a Robin sing;
I saw a glimpse of the sun.
A ray of hope entered my soul
As the darkness began to run!

"God, are You there? Do You hear me?
Do You see all my pain and despair?
I need You now more than ever . . .
Please let me know if You care!"

I was flooded with peace and comfort;
My heart overflowed with love!
I knew I had been tenderly touched
With a gentle hand from above.

He told me of His love for me
As He held me in His hand;
How He'd never leave nor forsake me
And someday I'd understand.

So let this be an inspiration
When you think you're unable to cope.
For God has a special plan for you
To give you a future and hope!

DON'T CRY FOR ME

Don't cry for me, dear family and friends
For I have gone on home;
Death to me was just a door
To bring me before God's throne.

I'm living now with Jesus,
My Savior and Lord and Friend;
Don't cry for me, dear family and friends
For my life has not come to an end.

I've run my race with endurance
And finished all I was to do;
And when your days on earth are done
Then God will call you too.

In heaven there is no sorrow,
No suffering nor pain;
Don't cry for me, dear family and friends
For someday we'll meet again.

Just live every day for Jesus,
To Him be faithful and true;
Hold fast and endure to the end
I'll be waiting to welcome you.

GOD IS ENOUGH

When problems surround us
And we feel we can't cope;
That's when we learn that
GOD IS ENOUGH.

When family does fail us
And we're left all alone;
That's when we learn that
GOD IS ENOUGH.

When our prayers seem unanswered
And we've lost all hope;
That's when we learn that
GOD IS ENOUGH.

When we're all finished doing
And there's nothing else left;
That's when we learn that
GOD IS ENOUGH.

When the battle is raging
And the going gets tough;
That's when we learn that
GOD IS ENOUGH.

When our body gets weary
And we want to give up;
That's when we learn that
GOD IS ENOUGH.

When we're totally stripped
And there's no where to hide;
That's when we learn that
GOD IS ENOUGH.

When grief and despair
Become constant companions;
That's when we learn that
GOD IS ENOUGH.

When we learn God's the Potter
And we are the clay;
That's when we learn that
GOD IS ENOUGH.

OH MY CHILD

Oh my child,
weep no more;
In the midst of all your trials
weep no more.

Oh my child,
rest in Me;
When you're weary from the battle
rest in Me.

Oh my child,
trust in Me;
When the future looks uncertain
trust in Me.

Oh my child,
lean on Me;
When the burden gets too heavy
lean on Me.

Oh my child,
call on Me;
When you need someone to talk to
call on Me.

JESUS IS SUFFICIENT

At times my heart is heavy
And my eyes well up with tears;
At times I'm filled with sorrow
And my mind is full of fears.

At times my faith does waver
And my trust in God grows weak;
All hope seems to diminish
And the future looks so bleak.

In times like these I lean on Him
And trust in Him complete;
My sorrow, tears and fears grow dim
As I lay them at His feet.

These times of trial and distress
Are all part of His plan;
In times like these He'll richly bless
And lead me by the hand . . .

To heights I never dreamed of,
To places still unknown;
He'll tell of His undying love
To all of us He's shown.

Yes, Jesus is sufficient:
He is our all and all;
He'll satisfy our needs and cares
As on His name we call.

Not one thing will ever happen
That is not for our own good
If we're called for His own purpose
And we're living as we should.

He will mold us and will make us
In the image of His Son;
He'll complete what He has started
'Til His work in us is done.

When you trust in Him completely
Life will never be the same:
Walk in victory 'til He calls us--
Glorify and praise His name.
